RUNNING CLUB

********************************************************************************

The Arthur Circle Running Club, founded by Sandy Triplett, is twenty-four years old this year.  We have the oldest running club in Louisiana.

Permission slips were distributed at the beginning of school.   When the weather permits, students stay after school each Tuesday from 3:00-3:30 p.m. and run laps on the track which PTA put on our campus seven years ago.

In addition to the annual Hour Run, the students may participate in some local road races like the Race for the Cure, the Pumpkin Run, the Walk for Education, and the Turkey Trot.

Laps are recorded each week, and students are presented with certificates, ribbons, and medals at each nine-week awards' assembly.

We attend one out-of-town race during the year.  The Cowtown Marathon will be held in Fort Worth in February.  Each year we have about twenty students who participate in this race.  ECE through fifth grade students may participate in the running club.

For more information contact team sponsors Carol Fullilove, Debbie Renfro, or Audee Dowd at school.

The Running Club sold cookie dough in October.  Money raised will help students attend our out-of-town meet in Fort Worth and will also pay for trophies that each Running Club student receives at the end of the year.
